Jacob Medina

From Kate Turner

When a hurricane hit Southeast Texas, this homeowner found himself wading through several feet of murky floodwater, eventually swimming out a window to make his way to his elderly father’s home next door. His home was ruined, like 80% of the other properties in Dickinson, TX. He called on designer Jacob Medina to renovate and furnish this beautiful fresh start.

The previous decor was a mix of dated Tuscan and contemporary. Medina gave the space a Parisian feeling, with art and other special pieces picked up on the homeowners' global travels. The breakfast nook features a large painting by Houston artist Arthur Turner while the office boasts a small stone sculpture bought in South America, gnarled pieces of driftwood, and pottery. The homeowners trusted Jacob innately, and he was able to really transform the space into a retreat that feels one-of-a-kind. Gray is balanced with warm earthy tones throughout. In the living room, a large white sectional sofa is paired with an emerald green velvet sofa, grounded by several black pieces both sleek and rugged.
