The Dodeca Domes Mini Dome is the world’s first pentakis dodecahedron home. It was designed as a short term rental with the intention of selling bare hub kits, plans, and construction drawings. It takes ~3,130 hours to construct, and costs a grand total of ~$110,000 in materials, fees, furnishings, and tools.
It was built in a backyard as an accessory structure in Portland, Oregon, USA. This tiny dome home exemplifies hyper-efficiency. Engineered with modern building science best practices, its double-wall configuration and various control layers achieve an impressive R-60 insulation. As a result, the Dodeca Domes Mini Dome can thrive in any climate with the most minimal energy consumption.
