From Leib Designs
The handiwork of Leib Designs, a NYC-based architecture, design-build, and development firm led by founder and principal, Assaf Leib — Fully renovated from top to bottom, this revamped pre-war apartment embodies a clean, modern design at its finest. Using a neutral palette and a revised layout that maximized space, the apartment design plays into the tranquil ambiance desired by the owners.
Located on the stunning tree-lined streets of New York City’s Greenwich Village, this luxury 2,000 square-foot apartment is both bright and inviting. Entering through the home’s front door, an airy, central living space comes into view, along with the fully-equipped open-kitchen that displays high-grade stainless steel appliances. The kitchen's clean, modern white cabinetry adds to the contemporary aesthetic as does the warm Carlisle planks climbing up the walls for sleek, additional storage. A long kitchen island breaks up the kitchen and living space, also dressed in the same warm, brown tones seen throughout the space. The spacious living room, positioned to capture maximum sun exposure, welcomes guests with an abundance of natural light.
To further cater to the client's minimalist, contemporary taste, Assaf constructed an office nook by breaking through the interior walls of the apartment’s large storage closet, creating a triangular area between the living space and bedrooms. The space goes completely unnoticed due to an optical illusion — the exterior panel wall seamlessly connects to the other portions of the wall — one would never know there is a door leading to an office, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Ensuring his client, a small, growing family, had all the storage needed to conceal their backpacks and briefcases, Assaf built custom cabinetry and a built-in white, wooden desk for those busy work days inside the tucked away office.
Behind the panelled wall is the home’s private area, holding two bedrooms and two baths. With an exposed brick back wall, large panning windows, and ‘yours and mine’ built-in wardrobes, the master suite provides an in-home sanctuary with natural light and privacy for its owners. Tucked away into the rear of the suite, is the master bathroom that excludes simplicity and luxury with all white finishes. Past the master bedroom and bath lies the second bedroom fit for a growing king with sufficient storage and two large windows with lovely views of the park.
