There is no other beachfront property in Costa Rica that can match La Vida Mar's location. It is only 15 minutes south of Tamarindo, 32 miles from Liberia International Airport, and 30 minutes from the new Flamingo Marina, which can accommodate boats of any size.
The residence is situated at the most southern end of the 4,500-acre Hacienda Pinilla Community, which features a variety of amenities. However, a large portion of the community has been designated for everlasting preservation to safeguard its abundant biodiversity, diversified flora, and fauna. To reach this estate residence, you must pass through a minimum of two guard gates.
The Premier Beachfront Point on which La Vida Mar is situated, within the Avellanas Community, makes it impossible to replace, as there are only eight beachfront homes and eight non-beachfront properties in the neighborhood, and they are all sold out. La Vida Mar is blessed with direct access to its extraordinary white sand beach, as well as 5 different World Class surf breaks, a crystal clear water river estuary, and a long extension of protected evergreen mangrove that will ensure its eternally pristine natural surroundings... not to mention the magnificent daily sunsets on the water because the house faces west!
You may walk over the sand to reach the renowned Lola's Restaurant on one side and the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club on the other!
The Estate Home
The property was designed by renowned Palm Beach architects Colestock and Muir and constructed by Cordoba Construction, a leading Costa Rican firm with over three decades of experience.
It features five bedrooms, five and a half baths, three outdoor showers, two climate-controlled garages, and a climate-controlled basement.
Down to the basement, the property is completely self-sufficient, with a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, an indoor vegetable grows room, and a massive caterpillar diesel generator. The entrance and exit are controlled by a fully electric rolling gate. The home is fully air-conditioned, including the basement and both garages, by means of split units and central air conditioning.
Completely installed, the Vero medical grade water system produces the highest quality drinking water conceivable. In addition, there is a five-filter system with a 10,000-litre holding tank in the basement.
The property comes fully furnished, and much of the furniture is custom-made for the home. The sofas and some of the beds were imported from Restoration Hardware.
The entire residence is made of concrete blocks, and no cost was spared in its construction. During the construction process, every detail was considered, and about 80 percent of the furnishings and fixtures were imported from around the world and the United States.
The master bedroom is entirely glazed and features a spacious sitting area, central air conditioning, and windows that fold back. From the unique master bedroom, you can observe whales breaching in the ocean while lying in bed or on the daybed. The master bathroom includes two separate commodes, and both closets double as safes. The stainless steel and wood-wrapped doors eliminate the need to install safes...
The jacuzzi includes a gas heater that heats it to 103 degrees in less than 20 minutes, and the jets are ergonomically positioned to provide a relaxing back massage after surfing or your favorite workout... There is an 18-hole Golf Course, tennis complex and pickleball courts, a community gym, miles, and miles of off-road bike tracks and hiking trails, an unspoiled sandy beach for joggers and runners, large horse stables for equestrian enthusiasts and all owners, and, of course, the clean ocean and river waters to practice surfing, stand up paddling, canoeing, and more...
The floors of the main living space on the lower level are imported Italian marble, while the floors of the bedrooms on the lower level are stained concrete. The entire second level is constructed from the rarest of hardwoods, known as Dragon Wood. During the expansion of the Panama Canal, this unique Dragon Wood was salvaged from the canal's bed. There is only one other property in the country with this wood, and none is available for purchase. The owners purchased additional Dragon wood and had specific pieces of furniture, including a dining table for twelve, custom-made.
The residence has an EXTREMELY reliable staff. Since its completion, it has been meticulously maintained by a maintenance director who dedicates five to six days per week to keep the estate in pristine condition. A housekeeper who spends five days a week keeping the interior of the home orderly and spotless. The original builder is responsible for important upkeep, such as restaining the wood flashing on the exterior every year, as well as a list of other outdoor and indoor chores with a yearly maintenance schedule.
