Situated on more than an acre overlooking the ocean, Ala Kohanaiki 25 sets a new standard for prime ocean-view homes and was designed with a unique backstory in entertainment. The custom-built oceanfront estate, designed by renowned architect Shay Zak, reimagines sophisticated Hawaiian luxury on one of the most coveted spots of the Kona Coast of Hawai`i.
Shay Zak designed the expansive pod-style estate to feel both contemporary and elegant, pairing thoughtful craftsmanship with exquisite details to welcome all the pleasures of indoor-outdoor island living for the whole family. From its initial concept, the home was inspired by community, family values and multi-generational gatherings. Fittingly, the sprawling estate is nestled within one of Hawaii’s most sought after private residential clubs, Kohanaiki, further deepening the communal vision.
Originally commissioned by the founder of Sonoma-based DuMol Winery, a brand whose award-winning wines have been a decades-long favorites at The White House and at Camp David, the estate includes its own private wine tasting room. Designed with entertainment in mind, the home features large floor-to-ceiling pocket doors that seamlessly open up to a spacious lanai complete with a private wet bar, outdoor seating, infinity pool and panoramic ocean views. Equipped with tiki torches, rooftop misters, attractive fountain features, and a sunset fire pit that activates at the push of a button, this dream home boasts an ideal ambiance for a multi-generational family gathering or that second home getaway with your closest friends.
Designed to be an `ohana (family) gathering place to create lifelong memories, the home has five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths for the whole family to create unforgettable memories together without compromising one’s ability to retreat to privacy.
Its unique, pod-style design creates a private collective and allows for connected, yet separate living quarters. Sequestered by vibrant tropical foliage, a large private courtyard separates each en-suite bedroom. With handpicked local art and antiques placed strategically throughout the home, the estate ties in the relaxed sophistication of Hawaiian architecture and the volcanic landscape of Kona – a soaking tub overlooking a Koi pond, an outdoor lava rock enclosed shower and tub, a covered Pae Pae for outdoor seating, a vaulted Great Room with cedar tongue, a sunset fire pit, outdoor grilling area and more.
Just a short walk to the 65,000-square-foot Clubhouse, the home offers easy access to Kohanaiki’s wide range of amenities, including a lap pool, indoor/outdoor fitness rooms, secret whiskey room, movie theater, micro-brewery and the Konane restaurant.
