Lakeview Residence

Located in Clear Lake, Iowa, the Lake View Residence is situated of the coast surrounding Clear Lake. This residence breaks through the surrounding tree line providing expansive vistas of the water and beyond. The main house volumes are angled in respect to the center of the lake and frame one of the two outdoor courtyard spaces at the heart of the home.
Upon entering the site, the garage volume hosts a second-floor guest apartment which then leads into an interior courtyard space between the garage and main house. The two structures are connected by a covered walkway.
The main house has two wings connected by a double height foyer and living space from which you can see the lake. The northmost wing is longer as to direct the views of the home out and over the water. The kitchen, dining, and living space are on the ground floor of this wing, with the master suite on the second floor.
The southern wing has a side entrance with additional ground floor living space and provides access to the outdoor courtyard with access to the kid’s bedrooms on the second floor via. This volume is angled to align with the center of the lake and opens the space of the second outdoor courtyard.
From the second outdoor courtyard, one can meander downstairs to the south that feature several moments of reprieve with off path viewing platforms as you approach the on-lake dock.
