We moved the freestanding cabinetry to direct guests into the living space and created a built-in look by framing them in. The statement hardware gives the first taste of the amount of detail that was put in to this space.

Using the client's existing sofas as the anchors to the living space, we added different materials (such as wood, glass, and brass metals) to contrast.

The existing fireplace surround tile matched nicely with the client's sofas and was balanced with a refinished white mantle and window bench seats.

We refinished the existing kitchen cabinets in a crisp white and light grey accent island. We replaced the dated granite countertops with cement coloured quartz on the perimeter and marble veined quartz as an accent on the island. These elements helped lighten up the space as we were keeping the existing backsplash intact. The dusty blue stools and brass pendants add depth and character to the space.

This is a long hallway with high ceilings. We wanted to create the sensation of one just 'passing through the space' and so instead of installing artwork, we relied on the addition of wall mouldings to add interest to the space.

The powder room felt like a cave and so we lighted it up by refinishing the existing cabinetry in a light grey, painting the walls white and continued the brass elements through sconces and framed artwork.

The master bedroom needed to feel like a retreat, keeping the light and airy feeling from the public living space. The headboard was placed against a long wall and so we defined the space using wall mouldings.

The ensuite needed to feel crisp and clean. We used the existing cabinetry and refinished it in a white, replaced the dated granite countertops, and created a marble oasis.

This home office may be small but there's plenty of natural light flooding the space. The French doors and light drapery help keep the space feeling open and big. Custom built-ins provide the perfect amount of storage and organization.

This residence is located along Memorial Drive, a road that is a memorial to the events that shaped our city of Calgary.
The clients wanted to downsize from a previously custom built home with the intent to sell. Our task was to work with a small budget but maintain the customized feel that they had been living with for the past decade. Working with the existing layout (minus a few functional changes), we focused on incorporating existing elements with updated touches and architectural details. Existing cabinetry was refinished, hardwood floors were treated with a custom stain, rooms were filled with wall mouldings, light fixtures were swapped, and countertops were replaced to accent existing backsplashes. A fresh paint job also created one of the largest transformations for what used to be a dark and dated interior. After a few finishing touches of accessories, the clients were left with a sophisticated and bright space full of textures and layers.
