A custom room divider was recently added to create a study/office at one end of a long room on the top floor. The framework was fabricated from 1" steel tubing then powder coated. The free standing unit is bolted to the floor and the wall "ladders" screwed to the Douglas fir wall. The shelves are tempered glass. The TV is a 55" Samsung.

The pool fence was custom fabricated from 2" stainless tubing. The posts are anchored in 2' of concrete. The glass is 3/8" tempered. It is a challenging site and I have observed the glass bowing an inch in heavy winds. Hasn't failed in 14 years ---- knock on wood.

On the cover of the book "Breaking Ground: Henry B. Hoover, New England Modern Architect" and featured in "Tomorrow's Houses: New England Modernism" (both books available on Amazon), this glass and granite palace, built in the 1950's, features terrazzo floors, six bedrooms, six baths, three fireplaces and mountain top views in all directions. Extensive renovations were begun in 2002 and the 24' x 60' - 10' deep swimming pool with glass "fence" was added in 2004.

Interior walls are graced with tongue and groove Douglas fir. Updated with granite counter tops, the kitchen retains its original charm. There is a grand piano, billiards table, gym, etc. Heat is by radiant ceilings and floors.

A 0.6 mile long private paved driveway climbs through the fields and woods of the 160 acre property, delivering you to a ridge top off the south slope of Mt. Monadnock. Beyond the perennial gardens, the grounds are landscaped in a minimalist, manicured wild style and feature the same blueberries, junipers and apple trees found on adjacent hill top meadows.

Available for rental on HomeAway (3952690).
