The house is located in Katowice. The city’s deep southern part is mostly a green, family-oriented, residential neighbourhoods. Most of it is surrounded by meadows and trees. The modern barn conversion fits perfectly with its location, as the place used to have an agricultural character.

My goal was to bring the exterior modern barn architecture to the interiors, taking into consideration the light angles and window location. This approach helped to create balanced arrangements inside the house.

It was important to me that the house was open and airy as well as consistent in terms of material choices. I focused on a neutral palette of white, gray, and various shades of black and we have used mostly wood and micro cement. All of these are intertwined throughout the house. However, there are some colour accents in the house, these are the copper-coloured lamps that match the shade of the facade.

When entering the house, first we find ourselves in a small hall and corridor which leads to an open living space, taking up most of the ground floor. The interior is airy and full of light. The windows are high, they let in greenery and an idyllic view of the meadows. These arrangements were well thought out in the designs. We wanted the residents to admire the beautiful sceneries, whether they are cooking or relaxing on the comfortable sofas. We have also thought about those cold winter evenings. The barn will be cosy and pleasant thanks to the fireplace located between two large glass panes.

Our house owners love to cook, so we decided to have a large kitchen island, which has a lot of functional storage options, located from the kitchen side, and a bar facing the living room for the guests. The wall, Kitchen furniture, and the pantry door were painted in the same colour. The bathroom area contrasts with the rest of the ground floor – it is kept in a darker tone and dimmed ambient lighting.
