Old Ivy: A Modern Masterpiece in the Heart of Buckhead
Nestled in the prestigious Buckhead neighborhood, the Old Ivy residence represents the pinnacle of modern luxury and thoughtful design. Conceptualized and developed by Peter MacMaster of Theory Homes, this project is more than just a house; it’s a personal masterpiece crafted for MacMaster and his wife to call home. Spanning years of careful planning and collaboration with top-tier design professionals, Old Ivy embodies the seamless blend of architectural innovation, sustainability, and the refined elegance characteristic of Atlanta’s most sought-after residences.
The Old Ivy home was born from a desire to create a residence that not only reflected the couple’s modern sensibilities but also enhanced their lifestyle. The design journey began with a clear vision—achieving circular flow without choke points to facilitate effortless movement and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The couple drew inspiration from the Nobu Hotel in Cabo, known for its striking modern architecture featuring heavy aprons and expansive use of glass. This vision was realized through the expertise of architect Jordan Williams, who transformed these ideas into a stunning modern residence.
The exterior of Old Ivy is a testament to innovative design. The home’s façade features a striking combination of textures and materials, including stucco applied in varying methods to mimic concrete, and a sustainable, maintenance-free aluminum privacy screen sourced from Japan that resembles wood. The clean, modern lines are complemented by large glass panels that bring natural light into the home while offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Buckhead skyline.
Stepping into Old Ivy, guests are greeted by a grand entrance with floating staircases underlit by architectural lighting that accentuates the minimalist design. The interior features a meticulous blend of high-end materials and custom elements, including flush, trimless interior doors and baseboards that create a seamless, cohesive aesthetic throughout the home.
The chef’s kitchen is a highlight, featuring a hidden pantry concealed behind stealth panels, offering both functionality and a sleek, uncluttered appearance. Large doors in the living area open to the outdoor space, creating an expansive flow between the interior and the pool area. The use of the same tile flooring indoors and out, with perfectly aligned grout lines, enhances this seamless connection.
One of the most unique features of the home is the walkable skylight, which illuminates the basement garage and offers views of a rotating car turntable below. This feature, along with a sleek car lift integrated into the floor, transforms the garage into a gallery for automotive enthusiasts.
Sustainability was a core consideration in the development of Old Ivy. The home’s exterior materials were chosen for their durability and low maintenance, ensuring that the home remains pristine with minimal upkeep. Additionally, the property is fully equipped with smart home technology, including hidden speakers throughout the house, creating an immersive yet unobtrusive living environment.
Old Ivy’s design thoughtfully includes spaces for relaxation, entertainment, and wellness. The upstairs yoga room, with its floor-to-ceiling glass walls and integrated sauna, offers a serene retreat with panoramic views. The master suite features high ceilings, integrated entertainment systems, and a private terrace overlooking the pool, perfect for unwinding.
Old Ivy stands as a shining example of what is possible when innovative design, high-quality craftsmanship, and personal vision come together. This home is not just a place to live but a statement of modern luxury and sustainability in one of Atlanta’s most desirable neighborhoods. For those seeking inspiration or considering the possibilities of modern architecture, Old Ivy offers a glimpse into the future of residential design.
