The east facing lot in Seattle had tremendous views but the site sloped considerably from the entry point a the street. The client wanted to keep the main living space at the street/entry level but this is a full floor above the outdoor space in the yard. While discussing exterior space connected to the living level the client mentioned "I wish the living room could just transform in to an outdoor deck". This hatched the idea for a full wall of glass that operated as an aircraft hanger door top open the entire east wall of the home. The kitchen, dining and living room become an outdoor space with the push of a button. With a large extended family and desire to host the home's lower level provides bunk rooms and a large covered outdoor patio. The covered patio is connected to the lower yard and provides a large dining or play area protected from weather.
