This house compound sits on a great lawn in a community that is designed partially to appease the film industry. It sits within a Hollywood Regency district, helping to define a refined streetscape, and runs on geothermal power. The design concept is unique in that the lot houses both a main iconic house and a smaller “twin” cottage, allowing the property owners to have flexibility. The smaller unit can be a guest suite, mother-in-law house, office, rental, boomerang kid space, or any other purpose that suits the residents. The client, the development team, needed streetscapes unique enough for film, but marketable enough to live in. Thus, the design team worked to be brave and simultaneously keenly aware of what modern buyers need.
A rooftop terrace adorns the top of the building for an unbeatable view of the community park. The buildings’ juxtaposition curates privacy and connection via a special courtyard for the houses to share. The buyers wanted a dash more modern style accentuated, so the doors opening to the living and dining room became steel.

Key features include hallmarks of Hollywood Regency style, packing an immediate punch, such as noteworthy scale, glamorous oval windows, period columns, exuberant coral doors, and maximalist lighting.

Many of the architectural details are striking, like the stretch of massive windows that creates an artistic backdrop from the staircase. Sleek windows flank the fireplace, and even bathrooms are glittering with natural light. A flex space in the second floor provides even more flexible options.
