We are building one of the tallest hemp houses ever built, and one of only a handful of full-time living hemp houses in the US.
Our home is hand-cast hempcrete, so the walls are a foot thick. There is no need for traditional drywall and insulation. The hemp has a very high R-value, in addition to being fire resistant, pest resistant, and carbon NEGATIVE.

Our ceilings are insulated with hemp wool, and we are using sustainable finishes. We hope to convert the house to be 100% off-grid and with time, include permaculture growing.

Our house is just under 1600 square feet with passive solar and two large decks overlooking 35 acres and the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

Shortly before Covid, we decided to move from our home in the overcrowded front range to Howard. The goal was to create a space that would do good things for the Earth that we will be leaving our daughter. We wanted to create a place that she can always go back to, without having to rely on traditional non-sustainable materials or fossil fuels. It's a place for friends and family to reconnect with nature. We are nearing the completion of the house, and it's a dream come true to be able to create something that we will be proud to pass down to future generations.
