A Southlake home located in the Coventry Manor neighborhood recently underwent a kitchen remodel which won the 2023 National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) North Texas Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award for Residential Kitchen over $150,000.

Kitchen Design Concepts, a Dallas-based home design and remodeling company, designed and executed the kitchen remodel. The home was built in the 1990s and the homeowners wanted to reflect their love for nature and the outdoors and the couple’s new season as empty nesters with design elements chosen throughout the kitchen.

The home was built by its current owners in the mid-1990s as a family home. The homeowners own an additional property in Santa Fe, which inspired the kitchen design and finishes. The town’s Pueblo-style architecture, creative arts hub, and sandy tones revealed in the town’s landscape all served as inspiration for the remodel.

Designed for a couple that enjoys hosting gatherings for friends and family in their home, the kitchen layout was crafted to make entertaining simple and enjoyable. The large island was included to act as a buffet for serving large meals and a wine refrigerator was added for easy access to temperature-controlled wine on a whim to serve guests without having to leave the kitchen.

The homeowners’ love for art and travel was used in the kitchen design to make the project personalized and to serve as a spot in the home for the couple to relax and host their loved ones. Two backsplashes were used in this design, one of glass gold diamonds, and one of rectangular natural stone. The mixture of textures brings an element of nature inside and furthered the stylistic vision of the client.

In addition to the tones, finishes, and wood tones to depict influences of Santa Fe, the pendant lights hung above the island are made from real stone found in the city. The incorporation of this material adds a sense of personalization to the project and creates a natural, yet traditional kitchen.

The final remodel not only solved storage issues but gave the homeowners a space to entertain friends and family with a touch of their favorite travel destination.
