Another view of kitchen showing the custom open shelving. We wanted both open shelving to show off found art and locally sourced ceramic dishware and enough cabinetry to hide away cookware as well as groceries.

The current house was built as a modern replica of the 1907 bungalow that stood in its place. The previous original dwelling was claimed by a fire in 2019 and painstakingly rebuilt and re-designed over the next 3.5 years. The new house is completely new except for the original foundation which was still in near perfect condition. The blueprint of the house is the same as the original except for the reconfiguration of a bedroom into a true primary suite. Other modern touches were added like raising the ceilings to 10 feet downstairs and vaulting the upstairs ceilings, widening the doorways between rooms, and enlarging the kitchen. Built during the pandemic, the home took almost four years to complete because of shortage of materials and supply lead times. Over that time, we were able to source vintage Italian Stilnovo light fixtures from Parma, Italy for the living room, primary bedroom, and entry as well as a mid-century fixture from Sweden for the ceiling pendant. Handmade zellige tile from Morocco can be found on the living room fireplace and kitchen backsplash. The kitchen cabinet color is a custom mix of 50/50 Ripe Olive and Pewter Green from Sherwin Williams. Our home is located in one of OKC's hottest neighborhoods: The Plaza District and in walking distance to some of the best shops, restaurants, and bars in the city. I would say the house's interior was designed to have an "elevated relaxed" atmosphere. Through-out the home are new pieces mixed with collected items from travels and keepsakes handed down from generations within the family.
