This Provincetown property with many drought-wise adaptations that takes its inspiration from the dunescape of the Cape Cod national seashore is a modern example of a lush garden that doesn't sacrifice aesthetics in the pursuit of sustainability.
A small front and backyard garden surrounding a home lovingly renovated by Hein & Cozzi are separated into a northern, shady backyard and a full-sun, south-facing frontyard. In the front, many sustainable and water-wise adaptations are present, including drought-tolerant plantings, gravel mulch, and use of the native soil. A suspended douglas fir boardwalk dotted with soft Bega light fixtures highlights the feeling of being suspended within a grassy matrix that echoes the nearby beaches. The backyard is geared towards cozy entertaining, with a deck that features integrated planters and lighting. A gravel patio grounds the space and is surrounded by lush, fern-studded plantings.
