The original builder of this Pacific Northwest home referred to the home as an historical collage. The story of the home comprises a hint of the stories of all of its reused and recombined elements to create a new structure yet always with traces of the past visibly present of all that was used to make this amazing home. In this way, the home is a palimpsest—something reused or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier form. Local history, geology, and artifacts combine to create the unique history of this home. We invite you to write the next chapter of this history against the backdrop of this amazing historical and green home.

From its energy-efficient design to the very source of each material used in its construction, this green home was built in harmony with nature and its geographical location. Steel light posts from the original McNary Dam, wooden beams from a 100-year-old saw mill, textured girders from a railroad trestle bridge, and columnar basalt from a 6 million-year-old lava flow, all have been reborn, original form serving new function. A 7.41kW solar panel array, ground source heat pump, radiant tubing, motorized windows, 10” thick Durisol block and earth-bermed walls, and a “green” roof are just some of this home’s energy-efficient features. Located in the heart of eastern Washington’s wine country, this living, breathing house is just waiting to become your dream home. Priced at $997,000--this home will not last long.
