The Redman Residence and Tower Addition

In rural Mississippi, the house, built in 2010 with a tower addition completed in 2020, is a retirement retreat for the Redmans. The home is situated on a steeply sloping site and is structurally anchored by the swimming pool plaza. The main axis of the house aligns with an existing, adjacent barn on site while the ancillary roof elements and garage are askew, aligning to compass N/S. A 4 story "Sunset Tower" was built as an addition in 2020. Providing horizon views of the 101 acre property from atop the tree canopy, the tower's shadowing stature was tempered by the use of coordinating materials and a complimenting design strategy, for a successful visual and spacial union with original house.
