From Erin Pellegrino

Erin Pellegrino of makethink designed the guest bathroom as part of a renovation of The Shop, a woodshop-turned-residence. Originally built in 2001 by architect Chester Wisniewski, former apprentice for Frank Lloyd Wright and founder of Davis, Brody and Wisniewski (now known as David, Brody and Bond) to be used as a workshop to rehabiliate and restore sailboats.

In 2019, Pellegrino renovated the whole building to transform into a summer home.
The guest bathroom located in the private section of the house, can be accessed through a pocket door created onsite by Pelegrino made out of locally sourced black walnut. The bathroom itself was designed to encompass the materials and visual of a workshop. The sink is a custom-poured concrete monolith. The shower is created using black stone tiles in a running bond pattern with a gray stone tile inlay to create two functional niches. The grey title pattern is a stack bond construction, emphasizing the verticality and contrast of the material shift. The bathroom has ample storage space with custom made birch cabinets.
