Designed by Erin Pellegrino of makethink The Shower, is the newest edition of The Shop, a woodshop-turned-residence. For The Shower, she looked to the elements of nature to construct a bathing space that respects its environment and crafts an experience. Turning to the forest, the boundary upon which the shower is placed, Pellegrino allowed nature to dictate our material palette. Using wood in many forms, Pellegrino created a cedar wind and privacy screen, a board formed concrete wall using douglas fir, and tied it all together with a custom-steel framed cedar word woodwall.

For the construction, Pellegrino relocated to the site to allow for experimentation and the ability to hyper-curate details, examining materials, and oversee quality. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, all materials were sourced locally within a 50 mile radius and constructed by the architect.

The Shower was completed in 2020.
