Original Interior Finish
The owner is a 20ish female, whose parents will come over sometimes. She wants an overall higher quality of living conditions and level of comfort but to control the budget and avoid changing the interior finish. After rounds of discussions, minimizing the adjustments to the plans, we decided to refine and reintegrate the interior space by prefabricating.
3. Master Bedroom and Living Room
The adjustment to the master bedroom door’s position allows the living room and the master bedroom more complete, and the movement makes more sense. The wall system of the living room visually echoes with the downstairs prefabrication and the bedroom wall system also responds to the open living room, as well as providing a warm and soft atmosphere.

This project is a penthouse in Shanghai near Huangpu river, which is very expensive. But requested by the client, we lowered the budget as possible as we could. We use prefabrication to change the function of spaces and the movement flow, which could be a useful strategy to apply to common residentials.
The assignment was to redesign a multi-million dollars’ worth of penthouse near the Huangpu River in Pudong, Shanghai.
