The dining room houses Juhl's Judas table and Egyptian chairs, both from 1949. The abstract paintings hanging above the dining table are by Asger Jorn and Richard Mortensen.

Architectural ispiration and exhibition posters fill the walls of Juhl's home office. Two chairs of Juhl's design are placed on the side of his desk, designed in 1945.

A social creature who seems to know everyone, Loft J occupant Jamil Malone has hosted several "alcohol-themed" parties and manages to wedge as many as 20 people into his studio. The gatherings are like gallery openings, with the walls of Malone's apartment displaying a roving selection of locally produced art.

In the garden room, Juhl's 1957 Japanese chair lies next to a sofa table and a built-in bench, designed for the house. The blue upholstery matches Anna Thommsen’s carpet.

Vilhelm Lundstrom portrait of Juhl’s wife, Hanne Wilhelm Hansen, hangs above Juhl's Poet sofa (1941). The sofa faces one of Juhl's most recognizable designs, the 1949 Chieftain chair. The white brick hearth extends into the room to resemble an area rug.

A collection of Juhl's chair designs can be found in the seating area of the master bedroom; a 1942 prototype chair, Karmstool (1953), three 48 chairs and a two-seat sofa (1948). Poul Henningsen's 1962 chrome plated Contrast lamp 1962 hangs over the table.

Loft B tenants Melissa and Keith Bishop downsized from a 3,000 square foot space to a cozy 720 square foot loft. "We downsized our lives," Melissa says. "We streamlined."

Architect Douglas Stockman says the building's charcoal-and-orange exterior coloring was "intended to reflect the dynamic character of the neighborhood." Here, it provides a festive backdrop to the residents' semi-annual Finn Lofts community party.

Juhl painted this watercolor rendering of the house in 1968, more than 25 years after the house was finished. The site plan of the property shows a separate building that was supposed to house Juhl's design studio. The plan was never realized and the bedroom facing west was expanded instead.

A new book by German publisher Hatje Cantz looks back on Finn Juhl's legacy and his home's new role as a public museum.

The Turning Tray was originally designed by Finn Juhl in 1956. The original trays are now on display at Finn Juhl’s Carlottenlund, Denmark home, which is now a museum. ArchitectMade has relaunched the Turning Trays by creating exact replicas from Juhl’s original drawings. Each tray features many of Finn Juhl’s characteristic design elements, including curved teak frames and the corner joints.

Dylan, 10, and Zoe, 13, have a lazy float down the creek, Huck Finn–style, in a steel horse-watering tank.

In the master bedroom, the textural appeal of the reclaimed wood wall, bedding, and rug contrasts with the black leather of the African-inspired ‘Bwana’ Chair by Finn Juhl, which sits beside a ‘TAB’ reading lamp by Barber Osgerby. “We believe a quality project is defined by the sum of all its parts versus any individual feature or design move,” Field says.

The revamped loft has a Sunflower clock by Irving Harper for George Nelson Associates atop bookshelves built by John. A Finn Juhl side table appears here and in the living room.

In the dining area sits Finn Juhl 109 chairs, a bespoke table, as well as a chandelier from Flos. There is also a Le Corbusier painting on the wall.

Along with a Dunbar sofa covered in Romo fabric, occasional seating includes a sheepskin Finn Juhl Pelican chair and a vintage wire chair. A BDDW coffee table sits atop a vintage rug. The artwork is by William Steiger.
