A Place Called Home in Trafalgar Square (September 18-22) Anticipating the broaders shifts in definitions of public and private space, Airbnb commissioned four designers, including Jasper Morrison and Ilse Crawford (pictured), to create their idealized visions of home in Trafalgar Square, playing off the site's ability to provide users with a new look at stylish dwellings.

The color palette may be restrained, and the price tags high, but it's not all serious: Check out the hammock hung in the office between the living room and bedroom.

Designer Ilse Crawford says of her collaboration with The Apartment, "We wouldn’t do something like this in a gallery where the pieces are put on pedestals. We would like to see the rooms in use. In Tina we have found the perfect partner to explore our philosophy further.”

In addition to new pieces from Studioilse, like the sofa and bar cabinet, Busck sources a mix of midcentury European antiques including 1960s leather armchairs by Tobia Scarpa and a teak-and-rattan bench/coffee table by Danish designer Børge Mogensen.

For three months beginning in August 2014, London-based interiors and furniture designer Ilse Crawford takes over Copenhagen design gallery The Apartment with a mix of rich materials and a subdued color palette. One of two brand-new pieces that make their debut at the showroom, operated by dealer Tina Seidenfaden Busck, include velvet-covered The Ilse Sofa by George Smith of Studioilse.

Studioilse’s furniture collections for De La Espada and the Ilse collection for Georg Jensen are also featured.

Another newly-introduced piece is the stunning Brass Cabinet, made by Jack Trench with Studioilse, which conceals a sleek interior bar setup.

A Franco Albini rattan armchair is paired with a marble bookshelf by contemporary designer Muller Van Severen and Studioilse's new velvet sofa in The Apartment's living room.

This Arts and Crafts style house built in 1910 by Swedish architect Fredrik Dahlberg was converted into a 12-bedroom homestay-like boutique hotel with an eclectic interior created by designer Ilse Crawford in collaboration with the hotel’s owner Jeanette Mix.

The open living-and-bedroom area of Ian Hague’s rural retreat can be divided by a wall that rises from within the master-suite platform. Interior designer Elaine Santos blended her client’s collection of vintage furniture with no-fuss pieces like a Shaker-style bench by Ilse Crawford for De La Espada.

The Studioilse installation by Ilse Crawford is a multisensory experience showcasing the "layers of life" within somebody's home.

Designer Ilse Crawford’s interpretation of the library lamp looks like it was cut out of the center of Apple’s headquarters. But this table lamp is precisely tuned to glow at 2700K—the perfect color temperature for work or reading at night without disrupting sleep patterns.

This 1949 inter-war modernist house in New South Wales was renovated by Sam Crawford Architects, Conway Atkins House in a way that paid homage to it's heritage with nautical and transportation art deco elements.

Danish silversmith Georg Jensen unveiled two new contemporary collections at Rossana Orlandi during the 2014 MIlan design week as a follow-up to its collaborations with the likes of Ilse Crawford and Alfredo Häberli.

Hosk's designer finds included a bouclé Bernhardt sectional that she spotted on Instagram, as well as a Mario Bellini modular sofa and a vintage credenza. A dining table by Ilse Crawford and a rug from Swedish designer Märta Måås-Fjetterström sit underneath oversized Isamu Noguchi lanterns. Danish-made, wide-planked hardwood floors run throughout the home.

A Raleigh bed by Design Within Reach anchors the guest bedroom, which also features art by Kimmy Quillin and Carrie Crawford sourced at Uprise.

Crawford taught himself how to reface the brick fireplace façade, using a creamy-colored, thin set brick. “It was his first time using a tile saw or laying brick, but his meticulous precision paid off,” says Devlin.

The Savoy restaurant was designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto in 1937. (Aalto’s famous vase for Iittala is actually known as the Savoy vase, since it was created for the restaurant.) During this year’s Helsinki Design Week, Savoy’s new owners announced plans for a refresh under the direction of interior designer Ilse Crawford and introduced a new menu by head chef Helena Puolakka. The dining room chairs, designed by Aino Aalto, are original. They’re not going anywhere.

The team removed the brick at the fireplace and added a terrazzo hearth with custom brass. The angles of the walls made a traditional furniture layout awkward, so the designers opted to float the custom sofa in the center so circulation flows easily around it.
