The master bedroom, previously a little dormer, has been expanded to include a massive corner window that captures the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, and Richmond Bridge on clear days. White walls and concrete floors define the ground level, where a Bend sectional and Metropolitan chair by B&B Italia, an Arper pouf, Bella coffee tables by HAY, and a Peace Industry rug furnish the main living area.

The wooden Backenzahn stools are by Phillip Mainzer for e15 and the ink-on-paper drawing, titled '5,604 Lines,' is by the San Francisco-based artist Alex Zecca.

A work by Victoria Fu and Matt Rich hangs across from a book-case by Louis in the family room. The sofa and ottomans are from Room & Board, while the Drum pouf is by Softline and the rug is by West Elm.

A stack of foam poufs from Venlet’s colorful, candy-inspired Let’s Drop collection joins his blue, powder-coated Cake chair on the third-floor landing.

The living room features a Thataway Angled Sectional, Bumper ottomans by Blu Dot. The Drum Pouf Tray is by Softline Design Team for Design Within Reach and the Molded Plywood Lounge Chair by Charles and Ray Eames are from Herman Miller.

In the living room, André paired a Walter Knoll sectional and chairs with a pouf from Originals Furniture Singapore. The chandelier is from Nemo Lighting and the standing lamp is from Vipp. The area rug is the chef’s own design.

Klopf Architecture, Arterra Landscape Architects, and Flegels Construction joined forces to refurbish this Palo Alto Eichler. Standout features include a fully opening glass wall, an outdoor living area with a kitchen and fire pit, and furniture by Kayu and Primary Pouf.

An off-center skylight brings natural light into the living room, where the existing fireplace (inset) was refinished in metallic paint. A fiberglass Koishi pouf by Naoto Fukasawa for Linea sits by an Eames sofa. The painting is by Vanessa Prager.

An ample sill made of English elm was built into two front windows to create a gathering spot that is visually connected to the street. Donna Wilson’s lively Ernest pouf in coral Nos Da upholstery for SCP adds extra seating in the living room.

In the living room, the designers preserved the existing Douglas fir paneling on the ceiling and walls, the fireplace, and the firewood niche. The cooler tones in the sofa from Design Within Reach, rug from Kush Rugs, and knitted poufs from SMG Collective balance out the wood and dial up the cozy factor.

The ceiling is exposed corrugated metal salvaged from the old house’s pitched roof and reused as decking for the concrete slab overhead. The space also features a Jessie Velvet armchair from Altea Design, a Dune pouf by Kare Design, and a Quinn wool rug from Crate & Barrel. Outside, a hammock beckons.

Perennial’s Fearless Green colorway is perfectly juxtaposed with the marble-inspired Natural High rug—while the grid patterning of the Common Ground fabric on the pouf adds another subtle layer of dimension.

Contemporary furnishings from Muuto and Matter, as well as vintage pieces by Adrian Pearsall, add splashes of color to the couple’s cat-friendly living room. The Bollo chair is by Andreas Engesvik and Fogia and the Flowerfield pouf is by Baum und Pferdgarten from Common Seating. The custom ottoman and media cabinet are by Studio Natio, while the Flotation chandelier is by Ingo Maurer.

In the foreground are Float beanbag chairs and poufs from Paola Lenti. Mamagreen sofas nestle near the house on the sun-dappled deck. A 9.5-foot-tall shade cloth curtain seals off the entire length of the house when the couple is away, keeping the heat out of the interior and preventing accidental bird suicides against the floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

Damen reclines in a Harper chair, also by Adler, with his legs on a pouf he and Cain bought at a warehouse sale. “The look we were going for was modern-rustic glam,” he says. “We mixed vintage and new with treasures found at antique shops in Rhinebeck. Some weekends we made three or four trips, filling the car with trouvés.”

Near the kitchen, a Moel chair by Inga Sempé for Ligne Roset joins a bar trolley, side table, and pouf from Crate and Barrel. A Yannis Gaitis lithograph hangs on a wall of white oak plywood.
