Objects, from a skateboard to tableware to books, give the dining room a curated boutique hotel lobby feel. The spider chandelier is another highlight.

Inspired by skateboards, the swing seats are made of European oak. “At first we tried bigger boards, but you can’t sit on them,” Parzyszek says.

Built in 1998, Bryggeriets skate park is located at the heart of the school. It gives students instant access to a landmark facility where they can practice skateboarding.

Julia and Dusty Wheeler’s family home in San Diego features a curated collection of handmade pieces, vintage treasures, global goods, and skateboarding memorabilia. The midcentury residence sports a classic "Southern California cool" ambience.

Bryggeriets skate park celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. In 2006, the city granted the board permission to start a high school—Bryggeriets Gymnasium—on the premises, making it the first school to teach skateboarding as a serious discipline.

A 22-foot sliding-glass door by Fleetwood opens onto an ipe deck furnished with lounge chairs, a cocktail table, and stools from Room & Board’s Penelope line. The bar is made of concrete and Richlite, a wood-fiber composite used in skateboard ramps.

The decidedly modern dining and kitchen areas open to the backyard through a floor-to-ceiling steel-and-glass door, fabricated by Optimum Window. One of the owners’ favorite features of the home is the “ability to connect the inside to the outside seamlessly,” Bangia describes. The living area serves as “a place for the kids to dance or ride a skateboard, a casual space that reflects the way they live.”

DecksPad by Focused Skateboard Woodworks A coffee table you can skateboard on? Indeed, says Danilo Nedic, a Rotterdam-based designer and co-founder of Focused Skateboard Woodworks with fellow designer Jeroen Dekker. The company salvages broken and worn-out skateboards by slicing off pieces against the grain, which exposes colorful layers of plywood. Glued and smoothed onto a frame, skateboards get a new life as a fine-looking piece of furniture with an even better story. DecksPad, inspired by the stubby manual pads at skate parks, is strong enough for manual tricks, but meant for supporting a cup of espresso.
