This room is located in a brick addition that the architects estimate was built in the 1950s. "Because this space was an addition and of a different material and construction than the original home, we felt exposing and celebrating this difference would be best," says Hazelbaker. They did so by removing a built-in closet, exposing the brick wall, and installing the Vitsoe system that doesn’t obscure the difference between old and new.

Vitsoe teamed up with subterranean neighbors Dashwood Books to host the 620 Reading Room in celebration of the re-engineered Dieter Rams’s classic 620 Chair Programme. The modular chair system was launched by Vitsoe in the early 1960’s and has been updated with a coconut husk and rubber filling.

The parents of a five-year-old boy feared that his room would read “too young” when he grew up, so Tang infused the space with elements that would balance fun and flexibility. A graphic topological map from HappyWall and yellow color blocking add youthfulness while Vitsoe modular shelving and custom bins on casters ensure that the room can be adjusted.
