Philadelphia–based Lostine is focused on the desire to make and live with objects that are not only utilitarian, but also aesthetically pleasing. The Brandywine furniture series marries simple, functional silhouettes with a thoughtful play of materials. This desk features a solid oak top that is available with a light or dark finish. A simple rectangle, the desktop rests on a steel frame, adding stability to the table along with a distinctive look.

The facade has rustic overtones thanks to white-washed tongue-and-groove pine and Dryvit stucco with a limestone finish.

“We wanted to keep the color palette light and neutral by using a bright white for the walls and a subtle off-white for the cabinets,” Arbib says. “We also chose to accent the space with natural materials, from the white-washed oak floors and clear-coated pine accent wall to the steel fireplace and stair rails.”

For another residence in Turkey, the pair used brass and leather as luxurious counterpoints to whitewashed brick.
