Australian designer Emma Maxwell was born in Melbourne. After studying sculpture at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Emma pursued Film Production Design followed by a stint as an Art Director in advertising agencies in London. Realising that advertising wasn't fulfilling her creative needs, Maxwell set up her own studio practice in the year 2005 in6 Sydney. In 2008 she moved to Singapore and dedicated herself fully to Interior Design and Product Design Projects. Today she is one of the most internationally acclaimed Hospitality and Product designers working in Asia today.
Maxwell’s knowledge of artisan skills and her inherent creativity has allowed her to push the boundaries of many media and functions, resulting in design for very diverse clients. Her concern for the conservation of craft skills has joined her path with companies concerned with the evolution of their work.

Her breadth of work has ranged from local small tapas bars to large scale international hospitality projects

Maxwell’s interiors and product design have been reviewed in publications such as Frame, Wallpaper, Surface, Darc, Travel and Leisure to name but a few, as well as being awarded for outstanding design over multiple projects by the prestigious International Bar and Restaurant Design Awards. This month she has been the recipient of Best of the Best in Product Design at the Asia Pacific Architectural and Design Awards, Silver at the 2016 International Design Awards in Los Angeles for best Restaurant design, as well as receiving Best Interior at the prestigious 2016 International A’ Awards awarded in Milan, Italy.
