Reed Cagle is a knowledgeable consultant specializing in the energy and oil industries. With years of experience, he advises clients on optimizing their operations, with a particular emphasis on horizontal drilling techniques.
Born in 1962 and raised in Clarksville, Texas, he has always maintained a solid connection to his roots, even as his career has taken him to various locations. He has been married to his wife, Donna, for over 30 years, and together they have raised a son who is now an adult. The family relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1999, but in 2017, they returned to Plano, Texas, where they currently reside.
He began his career in 1986 as an associate with Kinlaw Oil Corporation. He quickly developed a deep interest in the industry and devoted himself to learning the ins and outs of the business. Through hard work and dedication, he progressed within the company, eventually taking on roles of significant responsibility. After a decade with Kinlaw, he decided to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions.
In 1996, he left Kinlaw to establish his own business in Dallas, Texas. The following year, he founded Heartland Energy Inc., which later became HEI. As president and CEO, he worked closely with joint venture partners. He engaged with a range of professionals in the energy sector, including operators, drilling contractors, engineers, geophysicists, and service companies. The company’s focus was on sponsoring and exploring ventures related to gas, oil, and mineral resources.
In 2006, he expanded his involvement in the oil industry by partnering with Midcontinent Drilling. He financed the construction of a 2000-horsepower drilling rig capable of reaching depths of up to 20,000 feet, marking his first foray into the drilling service side of the business.
By 2011, Reed had entered the mining industry, working both in the U.S. and South America. He began by acquiring a mining concession in Oregon, which yielded over 89,000 ounces of gold. In Chile, he became involved in the funding and daily operations of a gold and copper processing facility in Copiapo. One of his significant contributions to the mining industry was developing a proprietary process for removing and neutralizing toxic substances from liquids while recovering precious metals. This technology, currently in use in Copiapo, holds promise for broader applications in the global mining sector. He sees this innovation as a potential game-changer for mining operations worldwide.
